Foreign Ministry Affirms One-China Principle Post Taiwan Elections
Islamabad (PEN): In light of recent events, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson has issued a statement regarding the elections in the Taiwan region. Echoing the sentiments expressed by the spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the Ministry reaffirms that the Taiwan question remains an internal affair of China. Despite the outcome of the elections, the unalterable fact is the existence of only one China, of which Taiwan is an inseparable part.
The steadfast position of the Chinese government remains unchanged: it continues to adhere to the one-China principle and firmly opposes any form of “Taiwan independence” separatism, the notion of “two Chinas,” or “one China, one Taiwan.” This principle is the cornerstone of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
The Ministry is confident that the international community will maintain its commitment to the one-China principle, which has been the prevailing consensus and has seen overwhelming adherence globally. It is expected that the international community will understand and support the Chinese people’s rightful cause of countering “Taiwan independence” separatist activities and pursuing the goal of national reunification.
