Only want to put Pakistan on path of prosperity: Nawaz

ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Pakistan Muslim League-N supremo Nawaz Sharif Monday said that he was not aspiring to become the Prime Minister of the country for the fourth time but all his efforts were aimed at bringing the country on the path of prosperity and self-reliance.

“I have not come back to become the Prime Minister and contest elections but my primary focus is addressing the issues faced by the people of Pakistan,” the three-time former Prime Minister said while addressing a public rally in Mansehra Hazara division as a part of his election campaign.

The PML supremo, however, observed that it would not be an easy task to bring Pakistan back on the track. “Pakistan has fallen behind in the world and that the country has to be rebuilt,” he maintained.

awaz Sharif, who is contesting election on NA-15 from Mansehra, said the country missed lot of opportunities and had he not been expelled, the position would have been different today and the Pakistan would have been a prosperous country.

“If there had been my government, no youth would have been unemployed. We built the motorway, and when it was ready I was in jail,” Nawaz said adding his plans were interrupted, including the intention to extend the motorway up to Karachi.

Nawaz also sharply criticized the current economic situation adding there was no inflation during his time and pledged to leave no stone unturned to put Pakistan on the right track and make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the best province. He, however, called for collective efforts to achieve this goal.

Nawaz pledged to address rampant inflation, unemployment and uncertainty in the country saying if voted into power, his government would ensure the creation of jobs and would see that Mansehra gets its own airport and universities and colleges.

He claimed said that after 2013 general elections Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman had approached him on forming a coalition government in KP, however, he decided against it in favour of respecting PTI’s right to form the government due to their numbers. “I ask the people of KP, what did the PTI do during their 10-year rule,” he said.

Questioning the performance of those who ruled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the past decade, Nawaz Sharif said, “Did they make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a New Pakistan? I ask the critics to visit the motorway, a project initiated during my tenure, as evidence of development, PML-N leader said pledging to build Mansehra Airport if the party comes into power.
Speaking on the occasion Pakistan Muslim League-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not an experimental site for politicians.

She lashed out at the previous PTI government saying that they promised five million homes, billion trees tsunami but did not fulfil any of their promises. She urged the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to vote for the right people as it is the land of sensible people.

Commenting on the incarceration of PTI leaders, the senior organizer of PML-N said that they are repenting the outcome of their own wrongdoings.
