Wang Yi: China ready to accelerate global development process
ISLAMABAD (PEN) : China will work with other countries to reactivate and accelerate the global development process, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday during a meeting with Dennis Francis, president of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in Beijing.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China supports more representation and voice of developing countries.
China will continue to make efforts to safeguard the legitimate rights of developing countries, he said.
He reiterated that China supports the centrality of the UN in global governance system, as well as a more active and important role of the UNGA in accordance with the UN Charter.
China hopes the UN Summit of the Future will provide practical solutions for the pressing global issues, he said.
Wang said China appreciates that the UN and its specialized agencies have abided by the one-China principle since the passing of the UN Resolution 2758.
China opposes any act or statement that does not comply with the Resolution 2758, he warned.
Francis said the one-China principle is the cornerstone of the UN system, pledging that the UN will not deviate from the one-China principle in any form.
The UN is willing to deepen cooperation with China, jointly address the global challenges and promote the realization of the UN 2030 Agenda, he said.
