Karachi JI Emir accuses MQM of rigging

ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Ameer Karachi Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman accused the MQM of rigging in elections.

Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said in a press conference that the general elections were held in the country, people of Karachi remained confused due to internet and phone service suspension.

He said PTA and the Ministry of Interior shut down the net and mobile phones. The polling process was paralysed.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman said that the Election Commission had been preparing for a year, but there were many polling stations in Karachi where polling started late.

He said MQM tried to rig the elections. He said that the MQM created a ruckus in the City and tried to influence the results.

He said the turnout of voting in Karachi was very good.

He alleged that the law enforcement agencies played no role in stopping the MQMP to influence the polling.
