China’s support to Pakistan during COVID-19 further strengthened all-weather friendship: NHA Chief

Chairman National Highways Authority Capt Sikander Qayyum (retired) has appreciated China’s support to Pakistan in the wake of coronavirus. He said that this time tested friendship got further strengthened as a result of these measures. Moreover, he said that China is helping Pakistan to build critical infrastructure projects in the country. He said so during a meeting with a six-member delegation of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). CSCEC also donated 3002 surgical masks, 1000 goggles, 2016 sanitizers, and 1000 protective clothes/coveralls.

ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Highways Authority Capt Sikander Qayyum (retired) has said that Pak–China friendship is time tested, said a press release issued on Tuesday.

China has extended all possible help to Pakistan to cope with the Covid -19 in Pakistan.

He stated this during a meeting with six-member delegation of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) that visited NHA HQ here Tuesday.

A simple but graceful ceremony was held at the NHA auditorium in which the CSCEC Chief Representative Xiao Hua handed over the Covid-19 protective equipments to the Chairman National Highways Authority, which included 3,002 surgical masks, 1,000 goggles, 2,016 sanitisers, and 1,000 protective clothes/coveralls.

Senior officers of the NHA were also present on the occasion.

Chairman National Highways Authority Capt (retired) Sikander Qayyum thanked the visiting delegation for providing urgently needed safety supplies from the coronavirus.

He also added that long standing ties between the two countries were based on solid foundation and with the passage of time this friendship would certainly strengthen as China had extended significant relief assistance to Pakistan to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said, in this time of trial, China`s timely help was encouraging for Pakistan to cope with the coronavirus.

China is also supporting Pakistan to built motorways in the country.

He assured that this safety gear provided by China would be used in the best possible way.

On this occasion, Xiao Hua said, China and Pakistan were all-weather strategic cooperation partners. To control coronavirus in Pakistan, China will extend its help, and that providing the protective gear to Pakistan was an effort to this effect.

Other members of the CSCEC included Executive Project Manager PKM Ding Zhaojie, Marketing Manager Chang Chun, Senior Assistant Ji Changhe, Ni Peng, and Wang Wei.—PR
