Pakistan and China to jointly address disasters and environmental issues faced by CPEC

Su Lijun, Deputy Director-General of the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE) of CAS said that Pakistan and China can cooperate in the field of earth sciences. He was of the view that CPEC is located at the tectonic junction of the western Himalayas, and is, therefore, a natural museum and laboratory for earth sciences. In this regard, the China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre on Earth Sciences has been launched recently by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The center will enable scientists of the two countries to jointly work on the disasters and environmental issues faced by CPEC.
