U.S. Deputy Secretary of State set to visit Tianjin

Chinese foreign ministry has confirmed that U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman is set to visit China’s Tianjin from July 25 to 26.

China said the visit came after the two sides negotiated and agreed, following the U.S. request that they hoped to arrange a visit by Sherman to China.

China said its Deputy Foreign Minister Xie Feng, who is in charge of China-U.S. relations, will hold talks with Sherman.

The talks will be followed by a meeting with Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

China said during the meetings, Beijing will make clear to the U.S. side about China’s principles on China-U.S. relations and its firm determination to defend its sovereignty, security and interest in its development.

China said it will also urge the U.S. to stop interfering into China’s domestic affairs and harm China’s interest.
