Manchester City face Real Madrid on Champions league return

The big Champions League tie coming up tonight with Manchester City hosting Real Madrid in round of 16 clash.

The 13-time winners would have a mountain to climb after they went 2-1 down at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg. However, they will have some momentum on their back after clinching the La Liga after neck to neck battle with rival Barcelona.

Madrid without their captain Sergio Ramos, City would be looking to cash in the opportunity for the place in Champions League.

Manchester City finished the Premier League season 2nd, trailing 18 points behind the league-winning Liverpool.

Real Madrid have a relatively healthy team with both James and Gareth Bale being omitted from the match-day squad. Ramos has been listed in the squad despite serving suspension.

Sergio Aguero is a serious doubt for City after receiving knee surgery in Barcelona. They will also be without left back Benjamin Mendy due to suspension. City’s Possible starting XI: Ederson; Walker, García, Laporte, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rodri, Gündogan; Mahrez, Sterling, Gabriel Jesus

Madrid’s possible starting XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Varane, Militão, Mendy; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Isco, Hazard, Benzema

With Sergio Ramos serving suspension it’s clear Eder Militão will likely slot in his place.

Hazard was reportedly dealing with discomfort during training, but should be in the starting lineup come kickoff.
