ISLAMABAD (PEN): China is relocating its “sunset” sectors, such as footwear, clothing, and toy manufacture, to other countries, according to Pakistan Footwear Manufacturer Association Chairman Zahid Husain, and Pakistan is one of the most ideal destinations. The entire volume of Chinese footwear imports has been increasing since 2018. By 2021, the entire import volume of footwear products will have increased by 10.1 percent over the same period last year, to $6.126 billion. He also claimed that Pakistan’s labour costs are about a quarter of those in China, which may be a huge draw for Chinese companies. According to Mr. Hussain, Pakistan is expected to begin exporting to China by 2025.
