According to a media report, the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) put into full commercial operation the Karot Hydropower Project, the first hydropower investment project under CPEC. At Power House, a ceremony called the Karot HPP COD Ceremony was held to officially launch the business. Dr. Munawar Iqbal, the acting managing director of the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), thanked CTG at the event on behalf of the Pakistani government. The ceremony featured remarks from Wu Shengliang, Chairman of China Three Gorges International Corporation (CTGI). According to him, the Karot Project will supply the national grid with 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours of affordable, clean electricity per year to meet the needs of about five million local consumers. Every year, it will contribute to a 3.5 tonne reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.
