ISLAMABAD : Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee and founder of the Pakistan-China Institute, stated in an interview with the Chinese newspaper Global Times that the CPEC, a flagship project of the BRI launched by China, has had a truly transformative impact on Pakistan and raised its profile and stature. He added that 75,000 Pakistanis with productive employment received jobs through the CPEC projects. In China, there are 28,000 Pakistani students. China built Gwadar Port, which is currently managed by a Chinese company. In addition, he emphasised that, whether it was CPEC, the COVID-19 pandemic, defence, or diplomacy, China was the first nation to come out in support, offer aid, and then deliver. Senator Mushahid Hussain praised President Xi Jinping’s leadership as that of a resolute leader with clear strategy. He added that, under the CPC’s leadership, China is now emerging as a worldwide leader in globalisation, climate change, socioeconomic development, and the BRI.
