ISLAMABAD – In an effort to probe the recent audio leaks, the federal government on Wednesday handed over the alleged audio recordings to the inquiry commission for thorough examination.
The commission has made significant progress in its investigation and has received the audio files from the government, accompanied by their respective transcripts, duly signed by an authorised officer.
Sources familiar with the matter have revealed that a total of eight audio recordings have been submitted to the commission for scrutiny. Moreover, the names, positions, and contact information of individuals involved in these recordings have also been provided.
It is important to note that a three-member investigation commission, led by Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the most senior judge of the Supreme Court, was established by the federal government to look into the alleged audio leaks. The commission’s mandate includes determining the authenticity of the leaked recordings and assessing any potential impact on the independence of the judiciary.
Among the submitted audio recordings is a conversation allegedly involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Mussarrat Jamshed Cheema. The commission will thoroughly examine this particular audio in the course of its investigation.
The inquiry commission is expected to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the provided audio recordings, considering their content and context, in order to determine their authenticity and shed light on any potential implications stemming from the leaks.
