Nation observes ‘Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada’ to pay rich tribute to martyrs

ISLAMABAD  – Multiple ceremonies and gathering to commemorate the “Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan” are being held across the country to pay rich tribute to martyrs today.

A major ceremony in this regard was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi.

Chief of Army Staff general Asim Munir laid floral wreath on the Yaadgar-e-Shuhada (martyrs monument). Former army chief general Qamar Javed Bajwa is also present.

The nation is observing the day to pay rich tribute to the martyrs who laid their lives while protecting the motherland and its people.

On the occasion, special prayer was offered for the departed souls of martyrs and a guard of honour was presented in the honour of martyres.

People from all walks of life are attending the ceremony. Prominent among them are Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, cricketer Muhammad Rizwan, Mufti Muneebur Rehman, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

The heirs of martyrs have been especially invited to attend the ceremony.

In remembrance of the courageous heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, numerous events featuring Quran recitations and prayers will be organized throughout the country.

These gatherings will serve as a platform for the nation to honour the indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication of the martyrs hailing from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Frontier Constabulary (FC), Police, and other law enforcement agencies.

Several commemorative ceremonies are scheduled to be held at the martyrs’ memorials located at prominent sites such as the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Pakistan Naval Headquarters (PN), and Police Yadgar-e-Suhuda.

These ceremonies will not only pay homage to the heroes but will also serve as a means to honour their sacrifices in regions including Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and all provincial capitals.

The Day of Tribute to Pakistan’s Martyrs stands as a solemn occasion for the nation to unite in gratitude, expressing profound appreciation for the brave souls who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace, security, and prosperity.

Meanwhile, President Dr Arif Alvi on the eve of Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan said that the entire nation was proud of their valiant martyrs who displayed the spirit of patriotism and fearlessness in testing times throughout their history.

“The nation owes to the heroism and sacrifices offered by the jawans and officers of our Armed Forces, including Pakistan Army, Rangers, Air Force, Navy, Police, and other security institutions that made Pakistan’s defence impregnable,” the president said in a message on observance of Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan today (May 25).

On the other hand, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday urged the nation to pay tribute to the Shuhada on Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan (Martyrs Reverence Day), being observed on Thursday.

In a tweet, the prime minister urged the people, including the children, to visit monuments and graves of martyrs and shower flowers as a sign of affection and respect.

On the eve of Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Services Chiefs, retired services officers and representatives of civil society pay rich tributes to shuhada (martyrs) of Pakistan who rendered ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty for ensuring integrity, sovereignty and honour of the nation and motherland.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release, the sacrifices of Shuhada are eternal, will continue to inspire future generations of countrymen and will never be forgotten, irrespective of vicious propaganda by the enemies of Pakistan.
