“Star Moon Road, 2023 Pakistan-China Contemporary Art Exchange Exhibition” held at Islamabad Art Gallery

ISLAMABAD : The Islamabad Art Gallery hosted the “Star Moon Road, 2023 Pakistan-China Contemporary Art Exchange Exhibition” to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Over 100 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and installations with Chinese characters, were showcased by renowned Chinese and Pakistani artists. The exhibition aimed to foster cultural engagement and strengthen the friendship between the two countries, allowing visitors to appreciate Chinese art and culture.
Pakistan’s Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, emphasized the significance of art and culture in promoting bilateral ties and bringing people closer together. He believed that exchanges in art and culture could contribute to the creative economy and facilitate peace, progress, and harmony in the region. Aasma Ismael Butt, the president of the All-Pakistan Chinese Overseas Youth Federation, expressed the view that such art events play a vital role in deepening the friendship between Pakistan and China.
Jamal Shah, former director general of Pakistan National Council of the Arts, highlighted the rich cultural heritage shared by both countries and the potential for mutual learning. He emphasized the value of Chinese achievements in fields such as cinema and artificial intelligence, suggesting that Pakistan can draw inspiration from the Chinese experience. The exhibition not only celebrated artistic expression but also recognized China’s support to Pakistan through initiatives like CPEC, which have contributed to the country’s socio-economic development.
